The Government of Liberia, in partnership with Notre Dame University Liberia (NDUL), has awarded fully funded scholarships to outstanding students across the country under the 2026 NDUL Scholarship Opportunity. The program supports undergraduate studies in Early Childhood Education, Education in French (major) with English (minor), and Sustainable Agriculture—fields that are essential to Liberia’s national development.

Following a rigorous selection process that included motivational essays, interviews, recommendation reviews, and document verification, the successful candidates were selected for this prestigious opportunity in recognition of their academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to serving their communities.
On April 9, 2026, the scholarship recipients participated in a special orientation program at Notre Dame University Liberia where they were formally welcomed and prepared for the upcoming academic trimester scheduled to begin in May. The orientation provided students with guidance about academic expectations, discipline, and the responsibilities that accompany receiving such a prestigious scholarship.

During the session, the President of NDUL, Father Maroun Zogheib, addressed the students and congratulated them on their achievement. He admonished the awardees to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence throughout their academic journey. He emphasized that the scholarship represents not only an opportunity for personal growth but also a responsibility to contribute positively to Liberia’s development.

The orientation also featured remarks from other members of the university leadership. Rev. Lablah of the Quality Assurance Office stressed the importance of maintaining high academic standards and integrity. Mrs. Asaff, Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Natural Sciences, spoke with conviction and encouraged the students to remain studious, hardworking, and determined in their pursuit of knowledge. Professor Frimpong also shared words of wisdom with the students, reminding them that education is a powerful tool for transformation. He encouraged them to approach their studies with curiosity, discipline, and a sense of purpose as they begin this new chapter at the university.

As the awardees prepare to begin classes in May, the university community expresses confidence that these scholars will grow into future educators, innovators, and leaders who will contribute meaningfully to their communities and to the development of Liberia.
